Then the newly formed band self released "Hospice" before signing with French Kiss Records and having the album remastered.

"Hospice" is a concept album narrating the story of a man who is witnessing his lover dying of cancer in hospice. Both sad and beautiful, I recommend the album to everyone.

You can stream the album in it's full length on myspace
My favorite tracks: Two, Wake.

Enjoy
- John

Cold Souls

Here's a movie to check out...if you love Paul Giamatti it's a must see.
I quite enjoyed the film.

The New Year

Ok, so I know it the 4th of January 010, but I wanted to look back at 09 and give you my "best of" picks. So without further ado, here they are:

Best movie of 2009: "An Education"

Not often will you discover a coming to age film told in the prospective of a woman, however this film greatly surprised me. I have always been a fan of Peter Sarsgaard, and the addition of the very likeable Carey Mulligan aided in my pick for this film. Based off of a memoir with the same title written by the British journalist Lynn Barber, this movie does not disappoint, it inspires. Check it out ASAP, well worth it.
The other movies I was contemplating choosing were: "Moon" and "Shrink," both very good movies, also worth the time.

Hello again

After and extensive break from blogging, I have seen 3 movies over this period. Two are worth seeing, and the other not worth your time or money.

Movie #1: Sherlock Holmes

This movie I saw on Christmas day, in a packed cinema, with three of my sisters. As a very critical critique, I went into the movie with a somewhat open mind. I knew how I depicted Sherlock Holmes as a character, and I knew how I enjoy Robert Downey Jr. as an actor, so as I said, I had an open mind. The scenery was very well depicted, and I thought quite highly of each actor depicting each character. It was at some points quite amusing, and other times action packed, delivering a whole hearty serving of greatness. In a nutshell, it's a must see.

Movie #2: Avatar

Now this critique might surprise you. After sitting for 2hours and 40 minutes in a not so comfortable seat, I do have insight on how the movie was. This of course could be explained in two simple words: long and boring. My ass hurt so much after that movie I honestly could care less about how I had just wasted $10. One thing I can give credit to james cameron for is the amazing scenery and graphics. However this was completely wasted on the plot which held no originality or creativity. I was sorely disappointed. Pass on this one until it comes out on DVD, not worth the cinema charge.

Movie #3: The International

I really was skeptical of this movie, but was happily impressed with the film at the end. After seeing Children of Men, I always have enjoyed Clive Owen, and this time he really surprised me. Though somewhat slow at points of the film, it was summed up in a wonderful way. A classic story of corruption and justice taken into ones hands, it was one of those movies that leaves you feeling warm at the end...I don't know why. But I would suggest you see it.

Lovely sounds

My favorite song right now.
Definitely getting a classical guitar as soon as I can scrape up some money. It is a film adaptation of the novel of the same title, written by Hubert Selby, Jr. Starring Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans, and directed by Darren Aronofsky, I would say this is quite a masterpiece film. You really feel connected to the characters as they are caught in between the self induced desperation and delusion, and the hard fact of reality. Portraying different forms of addictions, the film is beautiful in the way it was filmed with the use of many montages of short shots. Requiem also progresses very well, showing how the characters changed with time, and how the ultimate ending occurred.

Thus after all of that, I can only say one thing: This was a beautiful film

Let the Right One In

As it was Halloween just yesterday, in the spirit I wanted to watch a vampire movie. So after a little while of searching rotten tomatoes for some decent reviewed vampire movies, I decided to watch "Let the Right One In."

As a fan of foreign films, I really enjoyed this one. As the craze of Vampire/Romance movies continues (aka: Twilight), Let the Right One In trumps any other I've seen...

Go watch it. now.

A must watch movie

Mary and Max is probably one of the most wonderful films I've seen all year. Yet another great claymation written by Adam Elliot, I suggest you all see it asap.

1 of a kind: love story

Tonight I had the pleasure of viewing what I believe to be the most wonderful portrayal of a love story. I won't go into the details of the plot, just to abstain from ruining it for anyone who would like to see it.

This film, released in 1971, involves two characters, Harold and Maude. Harold, being a 20 year old boy, somewhat focuses on the morbid side of life, while Maude, who is 79 3/4, seems to live every day as if it were her last.

Love is an interesting topic, and is very difficult to capture in film. However I seem to think very highly of this film because of how it portrays love. You'll have to watch it to see what I mean by this. And I encourage you to do just that.

I only have one more thing to say: What kind of flower would you like to be?

On another topic: Looks like Jennifer Knapp is making music once again. Check out Knapp's homepageletter to her fans - as well as the new music

Glad to be back

It's been nearly three years since the first and only time I have ever posted on my beloved blogger.
